Meet Pete
The story
Pete's lifelong love of motorbikes is where this whole journey began. His passion has been passed down through his children and shared with their friends, bringing generations of people together through a common love of two wheels and racing.
A proud father to Pete and Johnathan, and stepdad to Bob, Pete is at the heart of it all. In fact, half of Smith, Campbell & Team Racing is made up of Pete's own family — a true reflection of the legacy he has created.
Always willing to lend a hand, share his knowledge or pass on his experience, Pete's passion for motorbikes is second to none. He's one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, always happy to help others.
Over the years Pete has built all kinds of motorbikes, but his real passion lies with drag bikes and straight-line racing. At 72 he's still building and racing them at the Straightliners events at Melbourne Raceway near York — proof that age is just a number when you have a passion like his.
There's more to Pete than motorbikes. He loves fishing and getting out on his boat with Cleveleys Fishing Club, and when he's not in the workshop or out racing you'll often find him on the allotment with his wife Karen, growing their own produce.
